Kurt Rosenwinkel in Australia!

Kurt Rosenwinkel landed in Melbourne, Australia late last night and is now trying to recover from jetlag before performing with Lee Konitz (hence Lee’s image in this post) for the first time in his career. This event will take place on June 9 at 7:30pm in the Melbourne Recital Hall as part of the Melbourne Jazz Festival. Supporting Lee and Kurt will be Dan Tepfer and his trio – a wonderful unit in and of itself!

On June 10 Kurt will give a master class in Melbourne, and on June 11 he will perform with his Standards Trio also featuring Eric Revis on bass and Justin Faulkner on drums. This is Justin’s 2nd time performing as part of the Standards Trio, but of course he’s already a veteran of Kurt’s bands having just finished a tour of Europe with Kurt Rosenwinkel Group.

After the performance in Melbourne on June 11, the band heads to Sydney on June 12 to perform there as part of the Darling Harbour Festival on June 13. That performance takes place in the afternoon at 3:45pm in Tumbalong Park.

  1. Sadly we’ve heard that Lee Konitz has fallen ill in Melbourne, and was unable to play the concert. We wish Lee all the best and a speedy recovery!
