Kurt Rosenwinkel Downbeat cover story!

Kurt Rosenwinkel is the cover story in the jazz publication Downbeat Magazine for their forthcoming July issue, which is just hitting newsstands and being distributed to subscribers now. Downbeat also distributes their magazine via a digital subscription or via the iPad.

Kurt Rosenwinkel in Downbeat Magazine CoverThe article itself mainly focuses on Kurt’s performances at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival (Kurt appeared with Clapton again in a recent performance in Berlin, Germany), as well as his most recent release entitled “Star of Jupiter“. Plus some significant dreams that Kurt has had that have informed him as an artist in general and specifically in the creation process of “Star of Jupiter”. Dan Ouellette is the author of the story, and Jimmy Katz took the photos.

In further Kurt Rosenwinkel news: Tomorrow night, June 7, Kurt will appear as a special guest in Paris at New Morning with Thomas Enhco‘s band. And later this month Kurt will perform at Rochester Jazz Festival (June 24) in upstate New York, as well as a series of Canadian festivals culminating in a performance at Montreal Jazz Festival on July 2. All of these dates are with the New Quartet in support of “Star of Jupiter”.

Then on July 7 Kurt will be performing a Solo concert at Montreux Jazz Festival, and on July 13 he is participating in a tribute to E.S.T at North Sea Jazz Festival. He also will perform at NSJF with his New Quartet on July 14. After which he will be headed to Italy for a series of dates (soon to be announced) as well as the yearly Tuscia in Jazz workshop series. And then straight to Denmark for another workshop called Vallekilde Summer Sessions.
