lordofuo 13619@http://www.kurtrosenwinkel.com/forum/
Cool, thanks. I'm excited to start learning to use it. I just got worried, cause I noticed Kurt only started really using it live in the past year or so (as far as I can see), and that lines up with the HOG 2's release, kinda. I was thinking maybe it only became useful in a live setting with the HOG 2 for some reason, but I now assume that there isn't too much difference, as long as I don't need midi-controlled preset changing.

lordofuo 13604@http://www.kurtrosenwinkel.com/forum/
Sorry to double, post. But now I have a question to anyone with experience with the HOG/HOG2.

I took a look at a picture of Kurt's board during the JCLO rehearsals and noticed it was a HOG2. I'm going to primarily use this for the freeze function and the attack/decay. Does the HOG 1 do this worse than the HOG 2? I also really like the "flute" type sound he gets with it. I'm assuming its a combination of 1+ octave and the attack/decay stuff. I'm not too worried about lack of 99 presets or octaved chords or whatever, but I do care about the freeze function and the attack decay abilities.

Thanks again

mretfasterer 13551@http://www.kurtrosenwinkel.com/forum/
I have the hog and Have played with the hog 2...
The hog 2 supposedly SOUNDS better but I didn't hear it :/ Take that for what it is, I suppose. I played a 335 to the hog2 to a deluxe reverb. Then I played mine. Didn't notice a difference worth selling mine and buying that one.

The hog2 has a fancy little footswitch that saves 100 presets, whereas the hogI has a LARGER footswitch that stores 6 presets.
I'm not getting the HOG2. Who needs 100 presets? And the sound enhancements aren't worth it, to my ears.
Opinions.
Thats what I think about it :/
:)

guitarmageddon 12320@http://www.kurtrosenwinkel.com/forum/
The technique requires a buffered splitter, one half of the signal is the "dry" tone, the other half is sent off in a loop where effects can be added. then the two signals are summed.
Being able to mix a dry signal with wet can restore attack and clarity to distorted sounds, prevent digital effects with poor analogue to digital converters from excessively degrading your tone, and sometimes having effects in a parallel chain can create the illusion of multiple layered instruments.
Usually this is done with a specialised pedal, like the Lehle Kurt is using. Some effects, like the popular Voodoo Drive, have a clean blend built in.
There are simple and more complex ways to do it with special stand-alone loopers. Depending on the effects used in the loop, a phase inverter is useful to correct the phase issues many effects will produce. The pedals usually have a stomp switch to activate the loop (and whatever effects are plugged into it) and a blend control to mix the dry and wet signals.

I know a bit about this stuff because I build custom effect pedals at http://www.codtone.com. I've built quite a few Rats with a clean blend for Kurt fans! If you'd like something like this, or an effects blender, drop me a line!
