I'm in the market to buy one, and this is the first I've heard of any glitches. I am very interested in its freeze/endless repeat function so I'd love to hear what you have to say about it. The more detail the better :), but I understand that people are busy so whatever you can spare is much obliged.

Thanks

Anonymous 3650@http://www.kurtrosenwinkel.com/forum/
@JorgeRubiales: what I meant was a 1000 euro increase compared to last years prices. Most of the models are now between 3500 - 5500.
@zjivve: thanks for your comments. I think I would be going for one of the semihollow models. I'm really more into a mellow, dark sound than into those crispy heights that most solid-top archtops have, so I'm not that sure if a Moffa is really the best way to go (apart from their simply gorgeous looks) My alternative would be a vintage Gibson, either a 175 or a 330, given that a reasonably priced one comes around.

Anonymous 3649@http://www.kurtrosenwinkel.com/forum/
Yeah ive tried a Maryan. Supernice guitar. It has a accoustic (steelstring) feel to it though that will suprise you a bit at first. I think Kurt probably use one with a centerblock to cut feedback and take away some of the accoustic attack. I ended up getting a Elferink insted partly due to the climate i holland beeing more like where i live. A carved artchtop takes a bit of taking care of when it comes to humidety and stuff.. I think you would be superpleased with a Moffa but be sure to disscous with nico what u want, how u play and so on if you decide to go that way.

It`s nice and all that Nicos begining to make a name for himself. But i do think a lot of instruments begining to be priced totaly of the charts. A 1000 euro rise from last years priselist is kind of vierd but they are still "affordable". A Maryan is now 5400 Euros. Maybe it has something to do with the fall of the euro ? But if you look at say Benedetto then the prices are crazy. They charge 25 000 dollars for a standard 17" artchtop (Plus 28 % tax for most european countrys) What jazzplayer can afford that, and also who dares to travel and gig with that kind of guitars? Seems like they are made more for collectors and ritch people that wants a 80 000 dollar guitar on their wall to be honest. Sure they are greate guitars but they are no better than many of the other guitarmakers out there that make amazing guitars.

If you want a cutom artchtop or semihollow, then be sure to check out :

-Victor Baker Guitars
-Andersen Guitars
-Elferink
-Comins Guitars

/ Z

I'm constantly broke as well, but I could sell some gear and actually afford one. But then there is the tough choice of choosing one of those beauties....
Have any of you guys actually played one already??
Cheers, lupo

Juan 3369@http://www.kurtrosenwinkel.com/forum/
What pedal/pedals does Kurt use to get the lingering reverb sounds like he does in You Go To My Head(1:30 ish) and Fall? I think it must be a combination of his reverb, delay, and hog freeze function w/ the expression pedal, but I'm not sure. Also I've seen some pictures of his pedals that show multiple Xotic X Blenders in his pedalboard. Does anyone know how he uses these pedals live? It would be cool if you could answer directly Kurt. ;)

Single notes can always cut through the mix, but its chordal playing that sounds best on them I think because of they way each voice meshes together. I play through an es 175 from the 50's and the amp has always given me basically the sound I was looking for, think jim hall but maybe a little brighter and probably harsher because my touch isn't as good as his.

DJL

kurtisrosenwinkel 220@http://www.kurtrosenwinkel.com/forum/
yo, i think i know what you are talking about. and its because you mentioned kreisberg that i realized what it is, because last time i saw him i noticed that he was using a lexicon lxp-1 reverb, which is what is giving this crackling thing youre talking about. you can set the input volume so that when you are playing in the high register and playing hard, it clips the input to the reverb and produces what in my opinion is a very musical crackle. i used to set this on purpose to get this sound because to my ears it emulated the sound of strain that saxophonists get when they are playing in the high register.
from me to you...
kurt

add4 210@http://www.kurtrosenwinkel.com/forum/
I just saw this video of kurt doing a masterclass (i can't find it anymore, but it's not the one with the pentatonic discussion). In this video he talks about how he would spend time on careful tweaking of his pickups height and would use the screws on the pickups to adjust the volume of each string so they're balanced.
I remembered that last night when i was not satisfied with the sound of my guitar and messed a bit with the general pickup height first, then on the individual screws for the strings.
i basically lifted up my pickups to have more 'thump' on the sound, and noticed that when they are a bit too high you get a subtle effect in the sound. I think that is close of the sound you identified.
That is usually something that people want to avoid, but i myself liked my sound better like that (i'll have to wait for next time i'll plug my guitar to see if i still like it :) )
You might want to experiment with that a bit and if you do, i'll be curious about your opinion about that.
regards
