Especially to Kurt and wonmusic (but to everyone who can answer about too):

I have read somewhere (probabilly on this site too, i don't remember exactly) that there will be a video documentary about the making of "Our Secret World" with OJM.
A nice video already popped out on the youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTdt4nTz-xc

Some news about the release of the complete video? Will you sell that from this web site shop? When?

Yes, the concert was recorded and will be broadcast on a number of radio stations at a later point. I also got some video that I hope to put up soon. It was a really fun event, not least when Kurt got an award "on behalf of the whole of the United States Air Force"!

And thanks for coming out snowaltz!

Hi forum members, this is my first post. Last night I saw Kurt perform with the Airmen of Note in Washington D.C. The concert was amazing and Kurt's playing was very mature and expressive! I was expecting to hear the Airmen of Note play the OJM arrangements from Kurt's new album "Our Secret World." However, they played all new arrangements! They did three from Kurt's album "The Enemies of Energy" - Hope and Fear, The Enemies of Energy, and Number Ten. They also did an arrangement of his tune, The Next Step. In addition, Kurt performed an amazing trio version of Coltrane's Moments Notice. At the end of the concert the Airmen of Note presented Kurt with a prestigious award. Then for the encore, they played a really nice version of Henderson's Inner Urge. By the looks of the stage set-up, the concert was probably recorded. Hopefully, everyone that was unable to attend will be able to hear the results of this amazing collaboration! Kurt, thank you very much for an outstanding concert!

I think it's a good review, usually music critic reviews are awful but this one doesn't seem too bad and I would definitely agree with some of his criticisms.

I like something Gordon Ramsay stresses in his show "Ramsay Best Restaurant", a UK show that has different restaurants compete against each other. The best part of the show is when he sends in undercover diners to find out what the restaurants are like when they don't know that they are being evaluated.

This provides invaluable feedback for the owners, chefs and staff that will really help to make the restaurant shine where it is weak and in areas that no one is paying attention to because the glow from awards and face to face customer feedback is so overwhelmingly congratulatory. Ramsay stresses over and over that he wants and needs the negative feedback so that he can immediately fix things, make them better and just improve.

The Steve Elman interview was quite positive and I think provided a similar service to what I mentioned above. Rave reviews are great, and maybe they really help album sales, but in the long run, the value of constructive criticism and negative feedback will only make you stronger if let it.

Saw both shows on Wednesday. Transcendent stuff. Beautiful to hear these pieces re-worked in this fashion. Kurt was on fire. No cut pinkie that night. Some of it reminded me a bit of Jaco Pastorius' big band back in the 80's. The end of Dream of the Old had a bit of Jaco's 3 Views of a Secret in the outro. Buy this album, and see these shows, if you're able. This music and these musicians can raise the roof!

yeah... it should be possible to have like an artistshare type of relationship with Kurt's music... downloadable live videos, live sets, ... also for guitar nerdies Kurt music/guitar lessons... of course his harmony book.

Well, I should add that, even if there's obviously a market for that (there are so many guitar geeky guys out there - including myself), quality is much better than quantity. I can definitely wait and I prefer having a great "product" than just a quickly-done thing that won't have much impact.

I think Kurt is more interested in doing artistic stuffs than lessons... which is definitely normal for an artist. But he can make some money too without selling his soul and help people develop their artistic craft. In the end, it's not a "product" anymore, it just helps you get better at music.

Thanks Anders, very nice of you. This place is the best, and its very cool of Kurt, not only to interact with his fans, but letting fans get together. I mean, just the fact (even if its a long time ago) that we "meet" in a chat room watching gigs streaming from Smalls while discussing music and just hanging out is awesome. I appreciate those moments so much.

About Kurts creative pace. Doesnt that freak you out? Isnt it terrible hearing perfect, awesome takes with Kurt and then while realizing that it wasnt recorded? What we fans actually get to hear is only a tip of an iceberg. I guess technology these days at least provide a better possiblity to get in touch with, in this example, Kurts output.

Thanks for doing a great job ACT, it must be the best work in the world :)

Hey Sandemose - well, to answer your questions. First, I think YOU are definitely more loyal than the average fan, one, and, two, I think this is true of just about anybody in this forum. I mean you all came back despite the fact that it took us so long to get a new board up after the old one was hacked into! You all help make this a real resource and fun place to visit!

So that's great and we couldn't release this music this way and at this pace if you guys weren't there to support it! There's just no if's and but's about that or about how much we appreciate the opportunity to release this music and get it heard! We don't take it for granted!

Having said that - we actually are releasing albums at a SLOWER pace than Kurt's creative output warrants, which is key when discussing how often we SHOULD release. He just keeps creating at an astonishing pace! I see it as MY job to try and document as much of that as possible, find a way to make it available to all of you and to the ages. I love the opportunity to help make that happen, and we are having a ball doing so! So thank you all of you, because it is YOU that makes all of this possible!

Goodie Anders, thanks for the info, really looking forward to this. Hey, isnt Kurt releasing records in super speed right now? First "the Remedy" (was is four years ago, I cant remember, it still actually never have left my mp3 player since I bought it), "Reflections" and now "Our secret world". I think its a good pace actually. How is in the jazz record industri (stupid question?). Are (we) jazz fans more lojal than the average record "buyer"? Is releasing records more of a service rather than a way to make money?

However, it doesn't make much sense to take pre-orders on the downloads, and we can only release on September 7, 2010 as that is the official release date.

I am shaking in my seat upon hearing the news of this....Ive heard kurts playing in a big band setting....bootlegged....its power.

Our Secret World is probably what im most excited about hearing, I think when i was learing it on piano I listened to it 400 times a day with my friend transcribing the lead on trumpet straight into my ear....so to hear this tune with an actual horn section should be nuts...

Question: Does anyone know if this will be released in the same way The Remedy was released?

YES! I am counting the days now! My favorite of Kurt's compositions are on this record. A Big Band Dream of the Old!!!!! It reminds me of the first time I heard Kurt in October 2005 when I bought Enemies of Energy, every fall I think of that album and fall in love again.
