I'm not very well versed in his stuff except for a couple of his wedding standards. I've listened to Far East Suite and I've got And His Mother Called Him Bill. I know he was one of the geniuses, but I'm not totally sure what to listen for. Any thoughts?

I'm in love with his suites: Black Brown and Beige (wich is a masterpiece not only of Duke, but of all last century), Ellington Queen's Suite, New Orleans Suite, and his bigband major works are included in some nice boxset like The Complete Columbia and RCA Victor Sessions, The Complete Capitol Recordings and The Reprise Studio Recordings. Don't forget his wonderful duo sessions with Jimmy Blanton (amazing!!) and Money Jungle with Roach & Mingus.
