fixing mesa lonestar footswitch?

    so i have this footswitch with my mesa lonestar:

    and unfortunately the button for the "channel" switch is hit or miss: it will sometimes change the channels with one try, but generally, i have to depress the button a few times for it to work. i am curious if this malfunction could be corrected in some way without having to take it to a repairman or send it back to mesa. of course it could be my cable but the solo button has no issues: it works with one try each time.
