That article answered a lot of questions for me that I suspected, and are now confirmed.
1.Kurt does play fingerstyle on this album
2. I thought there was some kind of sustain pedal, but being "gearheadless" (ha a new word), I found out it's the Eventide Timefactor that allows you to hold chords and play new ones.
3. That Kurt thinks he's better than he used to be, Kurt you are ;)

Just a point to your #3: I know Kurt didn't like that quote about him having less problems playing a certain way now - he had asked that it be taken out of his bio actually (which it was). Somehow it made it into this article (both were written by Bill Milkowski). However, there is no question that he's better than he was when he recorded ECLA of course! ;-)

i could have sworn that sustain was done by the hog's freeze function - i know i've seen it with the expression pedal in the pics of his recording session... did it say in the article that it was the eventide?
