Mic recommendation for guitar amp recording

  1. Hy everybody,

    I hope you can help me,
    I need to buy a mic to made pretty good home recording and i don't know witch mic is good for take an electric guitar with a jazz tone.

    I know that the Neumann TLM 103 is a good one but it's too expensive for me...

    I saw the Cascade Fat head II

    Is there someone here who know this mic or have recommendation for me, i have round' 300 - 400 dollars

    For guitar amp just get a Shure SM-57 and be done with it. I was recording and audio engineer for years and people keep wanting to use high end condensers, but in blindfold tests they can never tell the difference. Its all about mic placement than the mic on amps. Save your good mic's for acoustic instruments.
