What is this lick Kurt uses...

  1. Hello!

Its great this website is back up!

I'm curious if anyone could tell me what this lick is Kurt uses, he often uses it in his playing... It
is an arpeggio but I can't pick it... It sounds like 1 - 3 - 5 in eb minor or something i have no idea! however he chromatically moves up the fretboard, then does some amazing run!

He uses it in minor blues around... (2:00ish?) In the studio recording of the next step... and in many of his live shows!

If anyone could inform me would be much appreciated :)

    Cheers Josh

Maybe you should exemplify more specifically what you mean? Around 2:00 in Minor Blues? Gonna check it out (I think I know what you mean). Best, Sandemose

To my ears, it sounds like he's just going up a scale in thirds:

  4. Neither

It seems to be a diatonic enclosure (Db, F and Db) of an Eb beginning the Eb scale going up in thirds. For the rhythm, it may be something like that : eighth rest, ♪♬♪♬♪♬♪♬♪♬, eight rest. It is played on an Eb-7 chord (it's an Eb minor blues !).
    But no chromatical moves up...
Maybe you make a confusion with this kind of pattern : http://www.rosendahl.wep.dk/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/rosenwinkel-patterns.pdf
