What Kurt tunes might end up as future standards?

  1. Sandemose

    This is my list:

    Minor Blues,
    Path of the Heart,
    Use of Light,
Song for R.C. Man, that one is found on the Village Vanguard bootleg posted here, the second set, third song. I think its THE most beautiful ballad Kurt ever wrote, will it ever be recorded offically? Kurt, ACT?

    Any more suggestions?

    Best, sandemose

  2. Good topic!

    My suggestions:

    East Coast Love Affair
    Our Secret World

  3. Zhivago has the best shot of any of them I think by a long shot. Not because the others are not great compositions but it seems to me that it is his most popular composition all around, and that tends to be the biggest factor

  4. Neither

I agree with Jakehanlon, Zhivago for the same reasons

  5. Sandemose

Perhaps "the Cross" as well? It got a quite easy form, and not that difficult head also! I second that on Zhivago. But its so hard :(

    Best, Sandemose

  6. a lot of standards are standards because they are hard.

    Giant Steps?

  7. Sandemose

Yeah, agree with you Jake, with easy I more meant that the form is easy and well put together. It has this "hit" quality to it ("the Cross") Solo over the changes is still really hard, for me at least. Someone mentioned "Conception". I havent touched it already. It seems really hard. Brutal key also, isnt it?

  8. Colonel Trane

Zhivago, Use of Light, View from Moscow, Minor Blues, maybe Chords?
